During the course of a lifetime, most of us have heard the saying, Do as I say, not as I do. We see this kind of leadership everywhere we go.

Yoga Indulgences

As a wise woman once said (I’m paraphrasing here) — “you don’t need all that stuff to practice yoga.” The fancy clothes, the uber-expensive mats, the tricked out accessories — all of this stuff isn’t a necessity of your yoga practice. When I settle in for my yoga practice, it’s just me and my mat (and, on occasion,  I don’t use a mat). Still, there are things that buy because we want them. My Own Version of Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks I recently saw the latest Sex in the City movie, which is funny since I never watched the series. I just couldn’t relate to the hunger for expensive designer clothes and shoes (my shoe collection is more Merrell, Keen, Sanuk, and Kuru than Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik). Now that doesn’t mean that us yoga folk don’t have our Blahnik equivalents like Lululemon and Manduka. There’s a lot of yoga and yoga-related merchandise out there and even though I don’t need it, I sometimes indulge myself. A Few of My Favorite Things My indulgences have gotten a bit more modest over the years (I haven’t bought a $90 pair of yoga pants in years and I’ve had the same Manduka mat for well over 5 years). My new love is Etsy , where I find low-cost indulgences that allow me to support peoples’ creative endeavors (which I love). Here are some of my favorite Etsy goodies/sellers: The Emperor Seat — Want to meditate in style? This hand-crafted meditation stool is just beautiful. Mandala Meditation Stool — If you’re looking for a colorful addition to your meditation practice, this hand-painted stool offers a fun and funky place to park your meditating self
